Saudi Arabia cabinet reshuffle: King replaces crown prince
Riyadh, April 29: In a cabinet reshuffle, Saudi Arabia King Salman has relieved Crown Prince Muqrin from his post on his request, media reported.
The Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia is the second most important position in Saudi Arabia, second to the king, and is his designated successor.
Deputy Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Naif, second deputy premier and interior minister, has been appointed in his place, Saudi Gazette reported on Wednesday.
King
Salman
has
issued
a
number
of
royal
decrees
announcing
new
appointments
in
the
leadership
and
a
Cabinet
reshuffle.
Prince
Muhammad
has
also
been
appointed
deputy
premier
and
is
keeping
his
portfolio
as
interior
minister
and
chairman
of
the
Political
and
Security
Affairs
Council.

Prince Muhammad Bin Salman, the defense minister, has been appointed deputy crown prince and second deputy premier in addition to his current portfolio at the head of the Defense Ministry and chairman of the Economic and Development Affairs Council.
Prince
Saud
Al-Faisal,
the
long
serving
foreign
minister,
has
been
relieved
from
his
position
on
medical
ground.
He
has
been
replaced
by
Adil
Al-Jubair,
Saudi
Arabia's
ambassador
to
Washington.
