Moscow, June 16: Lobachevsky University scientists are implementing a research project in neuroscience to develop theoretical and practical aspects of interface circuits between the brain and the computer based on sensory and transcranial magnetic stimulation.

The results of this research will be used in rehabilitation medicine.

Stroke: Scientists developing technology

The project is supervised by Professor Alexander Kaplan from the Moscow State University. Prof. Kaplan is also Head of the Laboratory for the development of brain - machine interfaces at the Applied Biotechnology Center of UNN.

This project is aimed to develop a technology for non-invasive brain-computer interface (BCI) suitable for humans.

This latest technology based on the registration and allocation of EEG command patterns with a feedback loop will help to overcome the limitations of the existing BCI in terms of speed and accuracy. Most importantly, it will help to develop and automatize new skills in post-stroke patients.

The project spanning from 2015 to 2017 will bring the BCI technologies closer to reproducing the natural conditions of man's motor activity through the muscles having natural feedback to the brain.
