US First Lady Melania Trump finally made her first full public appearance on Wednesday, June 6, when she sat beside her husband - US President Donald Trump - at the Federal Emergency Management Agency headquarters where the duo received a briefing on the 2018 hurricane season.

Melania had undergone a kidney procedure on May 14, four days after she made her last public appearance. Her continued absence from public viewing gave rise to speculation which President Trump found disturbing and he called the rumours "unfair and vicious" on Twitter.

On Wednesday morning, Trump said in a tweet: "They reported everything from near death, to facelift, to left the WH (and me) for NY or Virginia, to abuse. All Fake, she is doing really well!"

At the briefing event, Trump said Melania was doing great even though she had a rough patch. He also praised her saying she was doing great as the first lady.

"The people of our country love you, so thank you, honey," Trump told his wife, with a tender touch.

Melania did not speak on the occasion though she acknowledged Trump's words.

Melania though was remotely spotted on Monday, June 4, in an event at the White House organised for families of people who died in military action but it was not much conclusive since the media was kept at a distance. Some present in the room clicked photos of her from a distance while others said she was not there at all.

The sudden announcement about Melania's medical conditions from the White House was met with surprise and there was a lot of speculation about her health. Last week, it was also declared that she would not be joining President Trump at Camp David retreat in Maryland and neither to the G7 summit in Canada on June 8 or the historic summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in Singapore on June 12.

There was also speculation over a tweet posted from the first lady's official account on May 30 which had semblance with the language Trump generally uses. Trump also lashed out at the media for not reporting about sighting Melania at the White House last week, alleging that it was done deliberately to give allow unhealthy narratives to go on. One reporter tweeted saying he had seen Melania Trump on May 29 but was not conclusive in his reply to the president's aggressive tweet.
