Washington, Aug 13: Indian-American Republican US presidential candidate Bobby Jindal has shown marginal improvement in his popularity ratings in the crucial primary State of Iowa, according to a latest opinion poll.

Despite 44-year-old Jindal spending most of his time and energy in Iowa, the two-term Governor of Louisiana is still ranked 12th among the 17 Republican presidential candidates, according to a CNN/ORC poll released yesterday.

In the previous polls, he was ranked 13.

Overall he has support of just two per cent of the people surveyed, as against 22 per cent for Donald Trump, who is leading the Republican candidates in Iowa, followed by Ben Carson with 14 per cent and Scott Walker with nine per cent.

Former Florida Governor Jebb Bush is now pushed to the seventh spot. On the average of latest polls maintained by RealClearPolitics, Jindal is ranked 14th with just 1.2 per cent of the popular support.

Despite a poor showing, Jindal's campaign yesterday appeared undeterred. "Governor Jindal has momentum in Iowa with big crowds and people signing up.

He has been to 27 counties and is finishing up a 4-day swing on his Believe Again Tour this afternoon. It's going well and there is big excitement for him on the ground. Stay tuned," said Shannon Dirmann, press secretary of the Jindal campaign.
