Pak reporter Chand Nawab beaten up by Karachi police
Karachi, Sept 22: Popular Pakistani reporter Chand Nawab was on Tuesday beaten up by Karachi railway police.
According to reports, Nawab, who is a reporter at 92 news channel, was allegedly roughed up by the police at Cantt station.
He was reporting about scalping of railway tickets, when he along with his team was manhandled.
Ary news reported that Sindh miister Nisar Khuhro had taken notice of the incident and ordered inquiry into it. The matter was also brought to the notice of Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique, by the news channel.
Chand Nawab got fame when his reporting video near a railway platform went viral on social media, in Dec 2008.
In the recently released Bollywood blockbuster movie Bajrangi Bhaijan, actor Nawazuddin Siddqui had re-enacted Nawab's hilarious way of reporting, in an exact replication of his viral video.
After his role was portrayed by Nawazuddin, Nawab got immense fame in Pakistan and became a star from a laughing stock.
It was reported that Nawab had asked for a compensation from the filmmakers of Bajrangi Bhaijan, for using his reporting style.
Nawab was in news in Aug 2015, when he had allegedly slapped a kid when he entered into his camera frame.
Nawab's wife Iffat, who was a doctor, passed away last year.
