Pakistan elections 2018: Poll panel finally declares results; PTI largest party with 115 seats

Islamabad, July 28: More than two days after the general elections were held in Pakistan, the country's election commission on Saturday, June 28, released the complete preliminary results.

As per the Election Commission of Pakistan's published results, Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) finished as the largest party, winning 115 of 270 National Assembly seats where elections were held. The last ruling party - Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) or PML-N - won 64 seats while another major national party Pakistan People's Party (PPP) ended with 43 seats.

Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA), an alliance of religious parties, won only 12 seats while Muttahida Qaumi Movement - Pakistan (MQM-P) managed just six seats.

PML-Q (Quaid e Azam Group) and the newly formed Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) won four seats each while the Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) based in Sindh won just two seats.

PML-N emerged as the largest party in its bastion Punjab, winning 129 of 295 seats while the PTI got 123 seats there.

The PPP won 76 seats in the 130-member strong assembly in Sindh province. PTI finished with 23 seats in this province. The GDA, which aimed at breaking the PPP's monopoly in Sindh, won 11 seats.

In Khyber-Pakhtunkwa, PTI won 66 out of 97 seats. The MMA ended as the distant third with 10 seats.

In Balochistan, the BAP emerged as the largest party with 15 seats while the MMA ended with nine seats.
