Pakistan: Hafiz Saeed's JuD, FIF on list of banned organisations

Islamabad, Mar 05: Hafiz Saeed's Jama'at-ud-Da'wah and its subsidiary Falah-e-Insaniat Foundation banned under Anti Terrorism Act 1997 by Pakistan's Interior Ministry.

This list is updated as of 05th March, 2019 and prepared by National Counter-Terrorism Authority (NACTA) based on the Notifications issued by Pakistan Ministry of Interior.

In all, there are 70 organizations proscribed by Ministry of Interior. Jamaat-ul-Da'awa (JuD)and Falah-e-Insaniat Foundation (FIF) were added to the list on Tuesday."

"This list is updated as of 05th March, 2019 and prepared by NACTA based on the Notifications issued by Ministry of Interior," said a note at the bottom of the list.

Late Monday evening, Pakistan issued another notice to say it was freezing assets - a statutory regulatory order (SRO) under the UNSC Act of 1948 (freezing and seizure order) against designated terror groups and individuals - LeT and Hafiz Saeed were banned 13 years ago by the UNSC.

On February 21, Pakistan government had announced that it had banned the JuD and FIF, amid intense global pressure to rein in the militant groups following the February 14 Pulwama terror attack that killed 40 CRPF jawans.
