Islamabad, Nov 23: The countdown to look for a new army chief in Pakistan has stared as General Raheel Sharif is set to retire next week. His retirement has raised the buzz that who will succeed him. Earlier there was a speculation that he could get an extension.

According to media reports, the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has already shortlisted the name that who would replace him.

Who will replace Raheel Sharif

If reports are to be believed, Lt. Gen Ishfaq Nadeem Ahmed will be the next army chief of Pakistan. However, Lt. Gen Ishfaq Nadeem Ahmed currently serving as Multan corps commander is also seen as probable contender for the post.

Bahawalpur Corps Commander Lt Gen Javed Iqbal Ramday and Inspector General Training and Evaluation Lt Gen Qamar Bajwa are also seen as likely contenders for the top post in Pakistan army.
