Over 50% of Americans believe Donald Trump is intelligent, strong & decisive leader
At least half of America's population believes their president, Donald J Trump, is an intelligent, strong and decisive leader and is capable of bringing about changes the US needs (50 to 58 per cent), a Gallup article has said.
However, the percentage of Americans who think Trump is honest and a likeable and admirable individual or that he has picked good advisers and can work well with both Republicans and Democrats is much lesser (between 37 and 31 per cent), the report added.
On the questions of Trump's success in keeping his promises, understanding complex issues, putting his country's interests above his own, caring about average people and managing the government - Americans come up with a mixed response (between 47 and 41 per cent), the Gallup article added.
These findings came up after Gallup interviewed respondents on 13 characteristics to judge Trump between June 1 and 13.
Of the 58 per cent people who believe Trump is intelligent was in agreement with the president's superior self-assessment ("really smart" and "a very stable genius"), the article said, adding that his predecessors like Bill Clinton and George H W Bush fared better on the same yardstick in the early 1990s.
On the question of being a strong and decisive leader, Trump's knack of taking ruthless stands on public policy and tweets have helped his image while his clear-cut talks on bringing drastic changes in the establishment politics has sent a positive message about his ability to bring about changes the US needs.
The Gallup article also cited media "fact checkers" to say that Trump has made misleading and false statements at a higher rate than his predecessors. It also cited the polling to say that his positive ratings "as a person" are nine percentage points lesser than his complete job approval rating.
