On Russia probe’s 1st anniversary, Trump brags about his administration’s ‘achhe din’

US President Donald Trump has a habit of bragging about himself often now and then and he did it again on Thursday, May 17, announcing on Twitter that despite the "disgusting, illegal and unwarranted Witch Hunt", his administration's first 17 months was the most successful of all in the history of the United States. He also took a dig at "Fake News Media" and "Haters", saying he felt sorry for them.

Reflecting the "Achhe Din" slogan of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's BJP in India which had made a massive campaign ahead of the 2014 parliamentary elections saying with Modi, achhe din or good days would arrive, Trump has also been found to be doing something similar.

The 45th incumbent of the White House, one of the most controversial in the long history of American presidency, often praises his administration to be the best and brags about its 'achievements' which he feels has been made much quickly if compared to its predecessors.

But Trump's latest boasting also came on the day when special counsel Robert Mueller, who was appointed to lead the probe into Russia's alleged interference in the 2016 presidential election, completed a year on job. Trump has always been critical about the investigation and raised his administrative feats on Mueller's first anniversary to prove his populist credentials once again.

He also tweeted: "Congratulations America, we are now into the second year of the greatest Witch Hunt in American History...and there is still No Collusion and No Obstruction. The only Collusion was that done by Democrats who were unable to win an Election despite the spending of far more money!"

Trump also used the micro-blogging site to launch a fresh attack on the previous administration led by Barack Obama accusing it of spying his campaign during the 2016 presidential election. He was referring to a recent report by National Review to raise the allegations, something he has also done in the past to play the victim card.

Four former associates of the president have so far pleaded guilty or been indicted related to the probe, the findings of which could have serious repercussions on the US's sovereignty and national security. Mueller has also filed charges against 13 Russians and three entities of that country for allegedly meddling in the election.
