On Sunday, a Nairobi-bound Ethiopian Airlines Boeing crashed minutes after takeoff from Addis Ababa, killing all eight crew and 149 passengers on board, including four Indians, tourists, business travellers, and "at least a dozen" UN staff.

The crash of Ethiopian Airlines flight 302 was the second by a Boeing 737 Max-8 in the past five months. This past October, a Max-8 that was operated by Lion Air crashed off the coast of Indonesia and killed all 189 people on board.

Ethiopia declared a national day of mourning for on Monday amid a global stream of condolences for loved ones, many of whom gathered in tears at Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

Meanwhile, Boeing's 737 is the company's most popular jet around the world, and U.S.-based airlines have not announced any plans to ground the newest model of the 737, the Max-8.
