No surprise, if Mohammad bin Salman becomes TIME's Person of the Year for 2017

In 2016, Donald J. Trump was the Person of the Year for unexpectedly defeating his Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton to become the President of the United States.

Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammad bin Salman was also known as MBS, is leading the TIME magazine's poll for Person of the Year for 2017. Mohammad bin Salman has been polled 21 per cent of votes so far. The magazine has chosen 33 people from diverse fields of activities across the world.

There won't be any surprise if Mohammad bin Salman continues to lead the poll to become the Person of the Year for 2017. In June 2017 he was elevated to the position of crown prince, replacing his cousin Mohammad bin Nayef - a move that had been widely expected and could shape the direction of the country for decades.

Surprisingly, the #MeToo wave, which exposed the sexual misconduct which began in Hollywood, is in second place with 6 per cent of votes. US President Donald J. Trump is in 3rd spot.

Since 1927, TIME Magazine has chosen a "Person of the Year," defined as a person (or people) who have had the most influence over the news in the last 12 months.

Voting on the reader's choice poll ends December 3. TIME's Person of the Year will be announced on December 6.
