A teenage German-Iranian gunman went on a killing spree and gunned down nine people at the busy shopping mall before committing suicide.

He opened fire outside a McDonald's restaurant before entering the mall. Sixteen people were also injured during the rampage.

The Indian consulate in Munich asked Indian nationals in the South German city to stay indoors after the shooting incident. It also set up a helpline on which the safety of the Indians there could be confirmed.
