Nairobi Mall attack: Two bodies recovered maybe of attackers

Nairobi: Two bodies maybe of militants'
Nairobi, Oct 18: Officials who pulled out two charred bodies from Kenya's Westgate shopping mall on Thursday suspect that the bodies maybe of the two attackers.

Ndung'u Gethenji, chairman of the committee investigating the attack said that two AK47 rifles were next to these bodies and suspect that these might be the possible two attackers.

Genthiji said that the bodies that were recovered are most likely that of the attackers since the army does not use AK47s. Another body was recovered from the rubble but it was of a soldier's.

The bodies will be sent for forensic tests in order to establish their identities.

Members of the banned outfit Al-Shabab had carried out the attack on September 21 leaving 67 people dead and injuring many.

Two AK47 were recovered next to the bodies suspected to be the attackers

Reports suggest that some of the militants may have escaped with the mall crowd since the exact number of attackers is still not determined.

According to officials, there were about 10 to 15 gunmen involved in the attack but CCTV footage shows that only four militants were involved in the attack.
