Seoul, March 22: North Korea test-fired missiles on Wednesday but apparently ended in failure, South Korea's military said.
Yonhap news agency quoted the military as saying that South Korea and the US were aware of the related issue.
The statement came as a response to reports that North Korea test-fired several missiles from Wonsan on its eastern coast, Xinhua news agency reported.
According to reports, Japan first detected the launch earlier on Wednesday, with government sources telling Kyodo News that Pyongyang may have launched several missiles from the North Korean city of Wonsan.
Earlier this month, North Korean supreme leader Kim Jong-un's government fired four ballistic missiles that prompted harsh condemnation from Seoul, Tokyo and Washington.
