Malala: Will continue to fight so that everyone can go to school

Malala's spirit refuses to die
The Hague, Sept 7: Nothing can deter this 16-year old, not even a bullet in the head. Pakistani teen Malala Yousafzai vowed on Friday, that her struggle for a 'world where everyone can go to school' will continue.

She was awarded with the International Children's Peace Prize here. While receiving the award she said that nothing will deter her from going ahead with her campaign and that last October's attack on her had made her more determined.

"I was just one target for their violence," she said in her speech referring to the attack when a Taliban gunman had shot her in the head. She said that she would intensify her struggle.

She said that there are so many for whom the fight must continue, so that children all over the world can go to school. Her speech drew her a thunderous applause from the audience.

"The attack has made me more determined."

Malala received her prize from 2011 Noble Peace laureate Yemini journalist and activist Tawakkol Karman, who while handing the prize said, "You are my hero."

Karman, who was in awe of Malala, said that he was impressed by her courage. "The bullet aimed at your head at that moment was a milestone in the history of your country," he added.

Her brave fight, determination and her speech at the United Nations this July has made her a leading contender for this year's Noble Peace Prize.
