Luxury limousines, elevators: Part of Saudi king’s 500 tonne luggage!
In a visit to Washington in 2015, Saudi King Salman bin Abdul Aziz had booked all 222 rooms of the Grand Seasons Hotel in Georgetown
If you are one of those 'overpackers', who have to pay a little extra at the airports when you travel, you need to read this: When you are the Saudi King, these trivialities do not matter. King Salman bin Abdul Aziz is clearly no light traveller -- for he is carrying over 500 tonnes of carry-on luggage - these contain two Mercedes Benz s600 limousines and 2 electric elevators - all for a nine-day trip!
A report in the Washington Post says that the royal is expected to bring 449 metric tonnes of cargo n his trip to Malaysia - the first stop in a rare tour of Asia. King Salman is also expected to visit Brunei, Japan, China, the Maldives and Jordan.
Naturally, royals do everything in style -- King Salman had booked all of the 222 rooms of the Grand Seasons Hotel in Georgetown, when he visited Washington in 2015.
A spokesperson of an airfreight company told agencies that his company has indeed been appointed to handle the cargo, and around 572 workers have been employed to deal with the luggage.
But we are getting ahead of ourselves - when former United States president Barack Obama visited Brussels in 2014, his entourage had included a 900 people and 45 vehicles (including 14 limousines)!
