North Korea's state media KCNA (Korean Central News Agency) on Monday, June 11, said the historic meeting between North Korean leader Kim Jong-un and US President Donald Trump will focus on a "permanent and durable peace-keeping mechanism" on the Korean Peninsula besides its denuclearisation and other issues that affect their mutual concern.

Both Kim and Trump arrived in Singapore on Sunday, June 10, ahead of the widely awaited summit - the first ever between a North Korean leader and an American president.

While Kim flew in a Chinese aircraft from Pyongyang, Trump reached the Southeast Asian city-state from Quebec, Canada, where he had gone to attend a tense G7 summit.

"Wide-ranging and profound views on the issue of establishing new DPRK-US relations, the issue of building a permanent and durable peace-keeping mechanism on the Korean peninsula, the issue of realising the denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula and other issues of mutual concern, as required by the changed era, will be exchanged at the DPRK-US summit talks," the KCNA report in English said.

The report also said that Kim was accompanied by two of his top ministers Ri Yong Ho (foreign) and No Kwang Chol (defence) besides his sister Kim Yo Jong, who has been a part of the leader's diplomatic entourage in the recent past.

The North Korean media also said the meeting will take place "under the great attention and expectation of the whole world".

Kim's schedule in Singapore revealed in details, which is uncommon for the hermit state's media, said South Korea's Yonhap news agency.

Kim was given a guard of honour in the North Korean capital before he set off for Singapore. This has been a busy year for Kim in foreign affairs and he has already visited China and South Korea twice this year to meet their top leaderships over the peace process.

The way to the summit has been topsy-turvy with Trump even cancelling it on May 24 in the wake of North Korea's fury over certain remarks and actions by the US but it was reinstated earlier this month after tireless diplomatic parleys between the states concerned.
