At least 48 people were killed on Sunday after a suicide bomber struck a voter registration center in Afghanistan capital Kabul.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a statement that "India strongly condemns cowardly terrorist attack in Kabul & Baghlan today. What makes this attack particularly reprehensible is the fact that the terrorists and their backers chose to attack a voters' registration centre for upcoming parliamentary and district council elections."

"This isn't only attack on innocent civilians but also on democratic rights of Afghans. Our thoughts and prayers are with family members of victims, we wish quick and complete recovery to injured," it said.

India is committed to extend all possible support in their fight against the menace of terrorism and efforts to bring peace, stability and security in the country, it added.
