It’s about 22 seats, Pakistan ruling party PTI slams BS Yeddyurappa’s controversial remark
Islamabad, Feb 28: Former Karnataka chief minister BS Yeddyurappa, who is also the state chief of the ruling BJP, faced a huge backlash on Thursday, February 28, for remarking that the strikes by the Indian Air Force (IAF) in Pakistan will help the saffron party win 22 out of 28 seats in the southern state in the upcoming general election.
The BJP won 17 seats in the state in the 2014 general elections.
"The atmosphere....day-by-day the wind is increasingly blowing in favour of the BJP. Yesterday's action of destroying terror hideouts by entering inside Pakistan has resulted in a pro-Modi wave in the country, the results of which can be seen in coming Lok Sabha polls," Yeddyurappa said in Chitradurga, about 200 kms from Bengaluru.
"Just now we got news that a Pakistani jet which tried to enter our border has been chased back. Pakistan has been taught a lesson, after 40 years PM Modi has done it. PM said we'd reply to every drop of blood of our soldiers and he has shown that today. Youth are celebrating; all this will help us in winning more than 22 Lok Sabha seats (in Karnataka)," he said.
Air strike will help us win 22 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka, says Yeddyurappa
Yeddyurappa became the chief minister of Karnataka for just two days last year after the Assembly elections as the BJP narrowly fell short of the majority and could not manage the numbers.
The seasoned politician faced a backlash from various quarters with Union minister VK Singh, a former armyman, saying he begged to differ with the Lingayat strongman. Yeddyurappa later tried to explain his words saying he was being reported "out of context" but the damage had already been done.
.@BSYBJP ji, I beg to differ. We stand as one nation, action taken by our government is to safeguard our nation & ensure safety of our citizens, not to win a few extra seats. https://t.co/V06LBMAJH3

The ruling party of Pakistan - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led by Prime Minister Imran Khan also slammed Yeddyurappa on Twitter saying his words revealed "the political game behind sending two nuclear armed nations into an escalated tension situation". It said "it's about 22 seats".
Took two days to reveal the political game behind sending two nuclear armed nations into an escalated tension situation. It’s about 22 seats. In this day and age, no agendas remain hidden. Take note India and #SayNoToWar!#LetBetterSensePrevail pic.twitter.com/SBY6dEXZ4p

India was left aghast after over 40 CRPF jawans were martyred in a suicide terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district on February 14 and the IAF made the raids in the wee hours of February 26 and it led to air games between the jets of the two countries.
