Indian team reaches Bali to take over Chhota Rajan
Bali, Bali, Nov 2: An Indian team of CBI officials and Mumbai police have reached Bali to arrange for the deportation of underworld don Chhota Rajan. He was given consular access today.
A CBI official said,"A joint team of officers from the CBI, the Mumbai Police and the Delhi Police left on Saturday night. They will formally seek Rajan's deportation and comply with all legal requirements."
Meanwhile, the first secretary of the Indian Embassy in Jakarta, Sanjeev Agarwal, met Chhota Rajan for about half an hour. Two days earlier, the Indonesian police had submitted a formal report to the Indian Embassy informing it about his detention.
Rajan was arrested by the Indonesian police at the Bali airport last Sunday after being tipped off by the Australian authorities. Rajan was staying in Australia for the last few years. He was carrying an Indian passport in the name of Mohan Kumar.
Since the two countries do not share any extradition treaty, the Indian officials are carrying all important documents ranging from the arrest warrant, chargesheets and FIRs against him that will help in his deportation.
