Huffington Post to make its debut in India this year

Davos, Jan 23: Huffington Post is all set to make its debut in India in May this year. The US -based leading online newspaper will be launched in English and will then offer news in local languages.

"We are working very hard on our India edition. We are in negotiations right now and we hope to launch it in May. We want to go global but while being local," Huffington Post CEO Jimmy Maymann said in Davos.

The organisation is currently looking out for a local partner for the venture, and Maymann said that the negotiations had reached the final level and that a deal was about to be finalised.

The website will mainly concentrate on four categories politics, lifestyle, entertainment, business and technology. But a final decision would be taken after discussing the same with the partner as each market has different requirements, Maymann said.
Huffington Post is currently in Canada, UK, Italy, France, Germany, Spain and Japan.
