How the US Feds busted the Telugu industry sex racket

The case was busted by the US Feds who have filed a 42 page chargesheet in the district court at Chicago. The Feds say that the couple ran a high end prostitution racket by luring actresses from the industry to the US.

The couple is alleged to have advertised these actresses for sex at Indian conferences and cultural events across the country. The rate fixed by them was at 3,000 US dollars. The duo who were arrested are Kishan Modugumudi alias Sreeraj and Chandrakala alias Vebha Jayam. Both are natives of Hyderabad, but were illegally living in the US. They were arrested on April 28 2018 in Washington.

The Feds said that the offences took place between May 11 2017 and January 22 2018.

The complaint against the couple stated that the victims would be taken to conferences and potential customers would be identified. The couple would book the girls on a flight and then fly them into the US. They would be accommodated either at Kishan's house or in hotels. The actresses, models and anchors would be taken on B1 and B2 visitor visas.

Based on the complaint the federal agents conducted a raid at the couple's house in Chicago. They found 70 condoms, divided into multiple ziplock bags. A fraudelent US lawful permanent resident card and a security card in the name of Kishan was also found.

The Feds said that the one of the survivors, a film star came to the US to attend the Telugu Association of Southern California, star night event on November 8 2017. The agents however got suspicious after she arrived two days after the event. Instead she travelled to Chicago for another conference.

During the investigations, the investigators also found text messages from Chandra's phone in which she was haggling with the clients over the rates.
