Explosion rocks nightclub in Philippines, one dead
Manila, July 24: At least one person was killed and nine injured when a powerful explosion rocked a nightclub in Philippines, media reported on Friday.
The explosion took place at two-storey club in the strife-torn southern Philippine city Zamboanga, Al-Arabiya reported.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the blast.
"Our city is under constant threat from terrorist and criminal groups," police spokesman Alexander Mabalot was quoted as saying.
The port city of Zamboanga is situated on the southwestern tip of Mindanao, the Philippines' main southern island.

The southern Philippines has long been wracked by violence carried out by Muslim separatist guerrillas, al-Qaeda-linked extremists and extortion gangs.
