EgyptAir hijacker demands to see his ex-wife in Cyprus

Larnaca, March 29: EgyptAir plane hijacker demanded to see his ex-wife in Cyprus after the flight landed here, a government official said.

Egypt government on the other hand, addressed a press conference and said: "EgyptAir hijacker is an Egyptian-American dual citizen named Ibrahim Samaha."

EgyptAir hijacker demands to see ex-wife

According to the officials '4 crew, 3 passengers were still on board hijacked the EgyptAir plane.'

Meanwhile, there were reports that suggested that the hijacker had demanded to see his ex-wife who's in Cyprus. If latest reports are to be believed, the hijacker's wife is being called to the airport to participate in the negotiations.

The Cyprus President said that the hijacking was not related to 'terrorism.'

Immediately after reports of hijack were doing the rounds, EgyptAir confirmed on its Twitter handle that their flight was hijacked. "Our flight MS181 is officially hijacked. We'll publish an official statement now."

The plane was on its way from Alexandria to Cairo took off from Bourg el-Arab airport just outside Alexandria on Tuesday.

Shortly, many passengers were seen disembarking from the hijacked flight. Though it is still unclear whether the hijacker had explosives strapped to him or not, earlier reports suggest that the pilot was threatened by a person who had an explosive belt.
