Different India: PM Narendra Modi makes investment pitch at Brisbane breakfast meet
Brisbane, Nov 17: Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a strong pitch for investment in India, explaining that his government is focusing on eliminating unnecessary laws and regulations and making processes easier and shorter to ensure more transparency.
While speaking to Australian business leaders at a business breakfast hosted by the premier of Queensland, Modi said, "India has made its policies transparent and have made the procedures clearly defined and smooth. You will no longer have to reach to opportunities through uncertain and unpredictable pathways, crossing hurdles along the way."
He assured that now people will begin to see a change in the investment scenario in India. "Good governance is the starting point of change and it is important to business as it is to ordinary citizens. You will begin to find a difference in India," Modi said.
Exuding confidence about the partnership between India and Australia, he said, "India-Australia relationship is comprehensive, involving economic cooperation, a growing security and strategic partnership and increasing cooperation in international forums, which are vital for peace, stability and prosperity in our region."
Modi left for Sydney on the second leg of his four-city tour of this country where a grand reception has been planned for him.
The PM is also scheduled to meet Australian political leaders including politicians from both Liberal and Labour Parties before heading to Canberra. He is also expected to address delegation of the Indian Community at the Allphones Arena.
