Dawood has stayed put in Karachi for over a year now
Karachi, Nov 3: Chhota Rajan has told the Indian agencies that Dawood Ibrahim is protected by the ISI- a fact that is well known since yore. However, what is more interesting is that Dawood Ibrahim who is in Pakistan has not moved from his location since the past one year, fearing that there could be an operation by the Indian agencies against him.
When Ajit Doval took over as the National Security Advisor last year, the ISI decided that it was about time to curb the movement of Dawood Ibrahim. The don who often shuttled between various locations has been confined to his home in the Clifton area of Karachi.
Too risky to move Dawood:
The watch on Dawood has been multi-fold in the past year. Indian agencies have tracked every movement of his and it has been found that contrary to all reports suggesting that he has been moved out, it is a fact that he has stayed put in his Karachi residence. The ISI is well aware that moving him around too much would mean catching the attention of the Indian agencies.
An officer in the intelligence agency tells OneIndia that the movement of Dawood has stopped completely. He lives in his fortress in Karachi and has been advised not to move around too much. He continues to operate from his palatial home in Karachi. However, the curbing of his movement does not mean his empire has stopped operating.For the ISI there are various reasons to protect Dawood. First and foremost, he is still a major asset to the ISI as he contributes a fair share of his income from the drug trade to the Pakistan spy agency. Secondly, finding Dawood in Pakistan would blow the lid off the ISI and also the Pakistani establishment which has always denied his presence on their soil.
Officials say that Dawood would travel quite a bit in the past with his numerous fake passports. However, all that has stopped now with the Indian agencies trailing him extensively. He has not budged out of Karachi in the past year. He only operates through phone and there are enough intercepts to suggest that, the officer added.
