Dallas, Nov 19: A zoo visit in Dallas turned into a 'horrific scene' for visitors on Sunday when a lion killed his 5-year-old sister lioness by "grabbing her from neck" in front of them.

According to reports, the Dallas Zoo officials are now investigating that why the lion killed lioness named Johari in full view of public.

In an attempt to save the lioness from being killed, the officials, who first thought that they might be playing, started throwing meat at them to distract the attacking lion.

The postmortem report conducted on Johari revealed that she died within minutes from "neck wounds and hemorrhaging."

Johari died within minutes from "neck wounds", postmortem report revealed.

Lynn Kramer, the zoo's vice president of animal operations and welfare, said, "five lions ( two brothers and three sisters) in total are in the exhibit and have never appeared to endanger each other before. The three lions in question have been in the same exhibit for three years. Lions can be aggressive, but they don't kill each other."

"Johari was a remarkable animal, as are all of our lions", he further said.

He also said that Johari, known as Jo-Jo, was a staff favourite who was "sweet and loving with her sisters, and often could be found grooming them".

Now, the remaining lions have been separated from the killer lion.
