The Chinese army has invoked Nobel laureate, Rabindranath Tagore, while talking about the common development of the two countries. There is hope for common development, the spokesperson for the People's Liberation Army, Wu Qian said. The statement comes in the wake of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's arrival in China.

Wu said that when President Xi Jinping had visited India, he had told a story about how Tagore during a visit to China was warmly welcomed by the Chinese people. As soon as Tagore set foot on China's land he said, " I do not know what the reason is. To return to China is like returning to my home-town. My heart is here,"

Wu further said that it is the common wish of the people to stabilise relations between India and China and also maintain peace and tranquillity along the border.

Wu, however, acknowledged that there were still some difficulties faced by the two militaries. He was hopeful that the consensus developed by Modi and Xi would serve as guidelines to deepen understanding.
