Chad bans veils after twin blasts claim 33 lives
N'Djamena', June 19: Authorities in central African nation of Chad has reportedly banned full-face veils (burqa) worn by Muslim women, media reported.
The decision has been taken after 33 people were killed in suicide bombings carried out by Boko Hara at a police headquarters and one of its academies here, reported News.com.au.
"Practice must stop not just in public places and schools but throughout the whole country," Prime Minister Kalzeube Pahimi Deubet was quoted as saying while addressing religious leaders before the start of holy month of Ramadan.
He said that any form of clothing that left only the eyes visible was a form of ‘camouflage' and urged religious leaders to spread the message in their mosques, churches and holy places.
