Blast in prayer area kills nine in Nigeria
Abuja, July 17: At least nine worshipers were killed when two explosions rock a prayer area in Nigeria's Damaturu on Friday.
Explosions took place when people were gathered to offer prayer to mark the Eid-ul-Fitr, BBC reported.
Two female suicide bombers including a 10-year-old girl blew themselves up when people were offering Eid prayer.
"I was sitting down when I heard two bomb blasts. I saw the bodies of five people and many were injured," a witness was quoted as saying.
Earlier, at least 49 people were killed when twin blasts ripped through a market in Nigerian city of Gombe. The blast took place when people were doing their last minute shopping for Eid-ul-Fitr.
Twin blasts in Nigerian market kill dozens
Both the blasts have not been claimed yet by any group, but suspicion is likely to fall on Boko Haram. The group has carried out many blasts in Nigerian cities during a six-year insurgency that has killed thousands.
