Bhutan minister hails Modi's initiative
Thimphu, Sept 27: The Indian government's "Make in India" fast track development initiative will make the country a global economic superpower, a senior Bhutanese minister has said.

Economy Affairs Minister Norbu Wangchuk said as 85 percent of Bhutan's trade takes place with India, the benefits of the prosperity and strength of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's initiative is bound to overflow into the Bhutanese economy.

The minister, who attended the live telecast of the launch of "Make in India" event at Hotel Taj here said when India becomes a global manufacturing hub, Bhutan will gain because of its abundant natural resources likes hydro power and minerals.

"It's encouraging for Bhutan as well that this movement is initiated," Wangchuk was quoted as saying by Bhutan's national newspaper Kuensel.

India is in the right path to be a global economic super power because of its huge 1.3 billion population, which can make the country a huge market for anything that is produced and manufactured in India, said the minister.

The fast track economic initiative is broadly spread into 25 identified growth sectors that will look at boosting Indian economy, reducing red tape, creating employment opportunities and reducing inflation.
