Fed up with tedious work, robot commits suicide

Vienna, Nov 13: Who says that robots are just machines and do not feel pain or any other form of emotion? Apparently this robot was so fed up with the tedious work given to him that he decided to call it quits.

According to the local media in Austria, an Android got so fed up with the work given to it that it switched off and destroyed itself by climbing up on the kitchen hotplate. The media here called the incident as 'robot suicide.'

In a report carried out by the Metro, UK [read here] the robot was given some cleaning task before it switched off itself. "Somehow it seems to have reactivated itself and made its way along the work surface where it pushed a cooking pot out of the way and basically that was the end of it," said fireman Helmut Kniewasser, who was called to put out the fire.

He added that by the time they arrived there was nothing but ash. The building had to be evacuated following the smoke that emanated in the flat, where the robot was.

The owner of the robot denied suicide by the robot and said that the device was switched off.The owners were not at home when the incident took place.
