Terror hits France again: Priest killed; both armed men neutralised
Paris, July 26: At least two men armed with knives who took five people hostages at Saint-Étienne-du-Rouvray church near Rouen in Normandy region of northern France were killed, police said. [French President Hollande urges for unity]
However, the attackers were gunned down only after they killed a priest, one of the hostages, Reuters said. Police told Reuters that it appeared that the throat of the priest was slit. Sources in the French interior ministry said another hostage was seriously injured, the Reuters added.
The hostages included---besides the priest---two nuns and two worshippers. One of them reportedly escaped to raise an alarm.
A security official told Associated Press that the killers' identities and motive for the attack were unclear.
The latest attack came 12 days after the horrific terror attack in the resort city of Nice where a heavy truck was ploughed through revellers during the Bastille Day celebration, killing 84---including women and children.
