Washington, Apr 18: Americans have least confidence in real estate tycoon Donald Trump among the five presidential candidates when it comes to economy, a latest poll said today according to which the lead is taken by Democrat Bernie Sanders and Republican John Kasich.

Trump, who during his poll campaign vows to revive America's economy by bringing jobs back from countries like China, Vietnam and India has the confidence of just 30 percent of the people when it comes to his economic policies, Gallup said.

Nearly half of Americans express a "great deal" or "fair amount" of confidence in Sanders (47 per cent) and Kasich (46 per cent) to recommend the right thing for the US economy, Gallup said. The polls were conducted between April 6 and 10. Democratic presidential front runner Clinton has support of 43 percent of the Americans when it comes to economy.

However, a majority of Americans (56 percent) say they have "only a little" or "almost [no]" confidence in her to recommend the right thing for the economy, the polls said. Americans' economic confidence in Clinton is lower now than during her 2008 campaign, when 51 percent were confident in her economic leadership, Gallup said. Gallup said Trump (30 per cent) and Senator Ted Cruz (35 per cent) fall short of their GOP competitor, Kasich, in terms of the confidence Americans have in their handling of the economy. Majorities report having only a little or almost no confidence in Trump (68 per cent) and Cruz (60 per cent), it said.
