Al-Qaeda rereleases hit list with slain Charlie Hebdo editor struck out
Paris, Jan 8: The chilling hit list of the Al-Qaeda which had appeared on their magazine Inspire has resurfaced on Twitter, but this time it is with one name less.
The photographs of the persons on their hit list has been re-posted with the name of slain Charlie Hebdo editor with a red X or cross mark against it.
The hit list:
The Al-Qaeda had in 2013 prepared a hit list of various persons. It had published it in its privately circulated English Magazine Inspire.
The hit list contains the names of Salman Rushdie, Danish cartoonist Kurt Westergaard, journalist Flemming Rose, Dutch politician Geert Wilders, Swedish cartoonists Lars Vilks, Stephane Charbonnier, Danish journalist and former Jyllands-Posten editor Carsten Luste, US pastor Terry Jones, Morris Swadiq, Ayaan Hirst Ali and Molly Norris.
Al-Qaeda propaganda:
This post was on expected lines by the Al-Qaeda. It has been trying to boost its image on the social media after being overtaken by the ISIS.
For the Al-Qaeda the propaganda battle has become extremely important and in the recent past we have seen the kind of material that it has been posting online.
Right from speaking out against the West to calling on lone wolves, the Al-Qaeda is fighting a battle to stay in contention.
Al-Qaeda would want credit:
It was the Al-Qaeda which after all planned the Mickey Mouse project under Ilyas Kashmiri. That attack failed after the arrest of David Headley, but this attack on Charlie Hebdo is just a continuation of that plan.
If the Al-Qaeda is credited with this attack on Charlie Hebdo, then it is back in the reckoning several experts would state.
