After Harvey, Hurricane Irma could be next weather disaster
There is yet another hurricane called Irma out in the Atlantic that could take aim at the United States within the next week. In the past few days, while the United States has been still recovering from Hurricane Harvey that has left major devastation in Texas, powerful Hurricane Irma is rapidly intensifying in the open Atlantic.
The damage is so devastating that Texas could require as much as $125 billion in aid from the US government, larger than the record $110.2 billion aid package assembled in 2005 following Hurricane Katrina.
Irma became a hurricane early on Thursday with wind speeds increasing to more than 55 mph since Wednesday to become a major Category 3 storm.
But the impact of Irma poses to land remain unclear. However, South Florida residents will need to pay close attention to changes in the track of Hurricane Irma.
