Kabul, July 22: At least 14 people were killed and around 60 others injured in what is being suspected as a suicide attack near Kabul airport on Sunday.

Afghan Vice-President Abdul Rashid Dostum is said to have narrowly escaped the bomb attack as he returned home today after more than a year in exile in Turkey.

Kabul police spokesman Hashmat Stanekzai said the blast went off near the main airport entrance, where Dostum's supporters had been waiting to greet him.

"The number of casualties may rise. The blast happened right after Dostum's convoy left the airport," he reportedly said.

On July 15, at least 10 people died and several others injured in a suicide attack in Afghanistan's Darulaman. A suicide bomber targeted the gate of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development in Darulaman.
