Washington, Jan 29: The next presidential election in the United States is just another year away and the Democratic primary field for the presidency has already started taking shape.

56 per cent of Americans will not vote for Trump to be re-elected in 2020: Poll

A few candidates have already nominated themselves for the race and they include three women. The Democratic primary promises to be crowded and according to a poll conducted by Washington Post-ABC News the result of which was released on Tuesday (January 29) 56 per cent of the respondents are yet to pick a candidate of choice.

Though it is too early now to zero in on the candidate of choice, the same poll also hinted at something not so good for the incumbent - Donald Trump.

As per the survey, 56 per cent of the respondents would not vote for Trump to be re-elected while the half - 28 per cent, said they would "definitely" vote for the Republican candidate. Fourteen per cent said they would consider voting for the man.

The poll also found that a third in the Republican Party was not in favour of re-nominating Trump for the 2020 polls though an overwhelming 75 per cent of Republicans and independents leaning towards the Grand Old Party was still backing the incumbent president.

In the Democratic camp, although 44 per cent of Democrats and independents leaning towards them had a preference for their party's nomination, no candidate had a clear lead.
