24 people killed in bus accident in Bangladesh
Dhaka, April 9: At least 24 people were killed and 22 injured when a bus lost control and hit a number of trees on the Barisal-Dhaka highway in Faridpur district in Bangladesh on Thursday, media reported.
The deceased include 19 men and 5 women, Bdnews24.com reported.
An immediate relief of Tk 10,000 for each of the families of the dead has been announced by the Faridpur Deputy Commissioner Sardar Sarafat Ali, who visited the accident site in the morning.
He also said that the district administration would bear the treatment cost of the injured.
A three-member panel, headed by Additional Deputy Commissioner Abdur Rashid, has been set up to probe the incident, he added.

"The driver lost control of the speeding bus and it rammed into a roadside tree. Flung by the impact the bus hit a number of other trees and overturned. Twenty-two passengers died on the spot. Two others were declared dead after the injured were taken to the hospitals," said Sarafat Ali.
Bhanga and Faridpur fire service, highway police, and local police were involved in the rescue work operations.
