Yogi orders probe into ration card distribution, fresh survey of BPL families to be conducted
Adityanath's administration has also ordered a fresh survey of families falling in the Below Poverty Line category.
After rolling back lakhs of ration cards bearing Akhilesh Yadav's photo in Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath-led government has ordered an inquiry into Ration Card distribution, said reports.
The former SP government in the state had printed 60 lakh ration cards just ahead of the UP assembly elections but they could not be distributed as the Model Code of Conduct came into force.
Along with Akhilesh's photograph, the ration cards also had the red and green colours of Samajwadi Party's flag.
Adityanath's administration has also ordered a fresh survey of families falling in the Below Poverty Line category.
According to reports, the new cards to be rolled out would be technologically superior to previous ones and will have silicon chips and barcodes containing details of the beneficiary.
The new cards will also be linked to Aadhar cards so as to ensure that benefits of the public distribution system reach the actual beneficiary.
