Lucknow, Jan 27: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath, who is facing criticism for ignoring his home state as he has been busy campaigning in other states (these days in Karnataka and prior to that in Gujarat), has decided to give special emphasis to youths in the state.

On the occasion of Republic Day on Friday, Yogi announced that the upcoming fiscal year would be dedicated to youths.

The idea of giving special emphasis to youngsters is to increase employment as well as to promote entrepreneurship and innovation in the state.

"This year was dedicated to the progress of our farmers, but we will dedicate the upcoming fiscal year to youths of our state", Adityanath said at the closing ceremony of UP Diwas at Avadh Shilpgram in Lucknow.

Every year, the state celebrates UP Diwas or Foundation Day on January 23. The three-day long celebrations came to an end on Friday.

"To this end, the state government is forming a corpus fund to give a platform to the youths for innovation as well as making provisions with the central government for promoting start-ups and making arrangement in the national schemes for the youth who want to venture into entrepreneurship", the CM was quoted as saying by ANI.

Adityanath announced that five lakh new jobs will be created in the service sector by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the state.

"UP alone has 12 crore youngsters and to connect them with the state's development as well as in the nation-building process, our Information department has begun with weekly E-Sandesh," Adityanath added.

The weekly programme aims at disseminating information about the government's schemes and achievements to the people of UP.

A BJP leader from UP said that the Yogi government's main focus is to work for youths, women and farmers. "Our aim is to make UP the best state in the country," he said.

However, a leader from the opposition Samajwadi Party (SP) said that the law and order situation in the state has deteriorated under Yogi's rule.

"Since March last year, the state is in a mess and this shows the failure of the Yogi government in every field," he added.
