"After Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi became Minister, implementation of minority welfare schemes have picked up speed," Yogi said at coordination meeting to review implementation of various central schemes for minorities welfare.

Minority affairs ministers from UP, Punjab, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi, Chandigarh and Himachal Pradesh were present at the meet.

The decision to hold the meet in Lucknow is also seen as another bid by the saffron party to stress that it is not opposed to the welfare of the minority communities.

On Wednesday, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that "We shall discuss how minority communities can be empowered without appeasement."

He also said that "Agenda of the meeting is development with dignity," and added that "Regional meetings with the welfare of the minorities as its agenda is yet another initiative reflecting the government's commitment to empowering minority communities."

Referring to the development that took place in last three years, Naqvi said that "More than 8.5 lakh minority youths have been given jobs in the past three years... the recent launch of the GST facilitator course at the skill development centres were quite satisfying as most of the trained individuals landed jobs immediately."
