With Yeddyurappa resigning, what next in Karnataka
B S Yeddyurappa resigned without taking the trust vote. This means that the BJP government will not be in power in Karnataka. What will be the next course of action?
The Congress and JD(S) will now approach the Governor and seek an invitation to form the government. The Governor then would invite them based on their numbers and give them a date to prove their majority on the floor of the House.
The Karnataka Legislative Assembly would be convened and a floor test would be held. Once they manage to prove the majority on the floor of the House, the Congress and JD(S) would form the government.
The Congress has already said that H D Kumaraswamy would be the Chief Minister. There is no decision as yet on who would be the deputy chief minister. As per their agreement, the JD(S) and Congress would have 14 ministers each.
