New Delhi, Mar 1: Former Arunachal Chief Minister Kalikho Pul's wife has written to the Supreme Court asking why her letter was placed in open court for hearing. A letter by Pul's wife Dangwimsai seeking a probe into the suicide note by her husband was placed in court and converted into a petition.

Kalikho Pul

She had written to the Chief Justice of India seeking a CBI probe into the letter written by her late husband. The matter was however converted into a petition. However when the matter was being heard, her counsel Dushyant Dave withdrew the letter and said he would seek recourse before the Vice President of India.

He said that since the suicide note names the Chief Justice of India and the President, he would have to approach the VP.

Dave said in court that the note states that a former judge had approached Pul on behalf of the CJI, J S Khehar. He asked why the letter written by Dangwimsai had been converted into a writ petition.

He then went on to cite a Supreme Court judgment which said the SC and HC judges could be probed for corruption with prior permission from the CJI. If the CJI himself is the person against allegations are made, then the government shall consult any judge of the SC.

Dave sought to know why the letter was converted into a writ petition. The CJI was expected to take a decision on the administrative side. Dave further questioned if the CJI is precluded from taking a decision on the letter as the allegations in the suicide note concerned the CJI's son?
