Former CM Siddaramaiah apologized to the house for addressing the newly elected Speaker KR Ramesh Kumar without proper salutation. Later, Siddaramaiah corrected himself, saying due to close association with Ramesh Kumar he addressed the Speaker in a friendly manner.

Siddaramaiah hailed KR Ramesh Kumar's profound knowledge in law and Constitution of India. He said Ramesh Kumar would have been a successful lawyer.

"Over a period of time quality of discussions has deteriorated in assembly and Legislative council. We want to bring old glory to Vidhan Sabha. We all have to cooperate with the Speaker," said former CM.

"Ramesh Kumar has become Speaker after a gap of 24 years. He served as legislator and minister in the assembly. I wish he could use his profound experience as Speaker," Siddaramaiah said.

Siddaramaiah wished that newcomers could get chance to speak in the house. "We should not waste time for silly reasons and discuss development issue. Your (Speaker) experience is necessary in this regard," he said.

He didn't forget to say that in coalition government it is difficult to manage the house but you (Speaker) have the ability to manage the house in presence of formidable opposition.

At the end of his speech, Siddaramaiah thanked the opposition for unanimously electing KR Ramesh Kumar. "This is a good democratic practice," he added.
