Chief Minister of Gujarat, Vijay Rupani sought to know why Congress leader Ahmed Patel appointed an Islamic State sympathiser in a hospital. Rupani alleged that one of the two ISIS sympathisers arrested by the Gujarat ATS was employed at a hospital in Bharuch that Patel was associated with.
While rubbishing the allegation, Patel asked Rupani not to politicise matters of national security for the sake of elections.
Mohmamad Kasis Stimberwala and Ubed Ahmed Mirza, reportedly a lawyer, were arrested on Wednesday and booked for criminal conspiracy, waging or attempt to wage war against the government of India.
Rupani demanded an explanation from the Congress and its vice-president Rahul Gandhi for recruiting a "terrorist".
He also asked how Stimberwala resigned just two days before his arrest. "Or was asked to resign from Sardar Patel Hospital and Heart Institute?"
"Why was he recruited in the first place? Patel should answer these questions," Rupani said.
Patel was a trustee of the hospital, and after resigning in 2014, he invited then-president Pranab Mukherjee and shared the stage with him at a function, Rupani further added.
