When Saif Ali Khan moved MP High Court to save royal properties
New Delhi, April 8: Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan has approached Madhya Pradesh High Court, seeking stay on the royal property in Bhopal from being confiscated.
Reportedly, Saif in his petition said that Pataudi family is the sole inheritor of the Bhopal State's properties which his grandmother Sajida Sultan had received in 1961.
The dispute came into existence after his grandmother's siblings challenged the ownership of the property. Amid reports that Centre could confiscate disputed property under Enemy Act, the actor on Monday moved to HC.
"Sajida Sultan was recognised as sole successor by President of India through a gazette notification.Enemy property excludes citizens of India. We have pleaded that vesting order be quashed and directive of listing of properties be put on hold", Saif's lawyer told Times of India.
Reports say that original inheritor of the property was Bhopal Nawab's eldest daughter, Abida Sultaan. But as she moved to Pakistan in 1950, she lost the right to the inheritance of the same.
