In West Bengal this candidate's assets increased by 689 per cent
Kolkata, May 4: Between the years 2011 and 2016, Javed Ahmed Khan of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITMC) had a 698 per cent increase in his assets.
Javed contesting from the Kasba constituency saw an asset increase from Rs 2 crore in 2011 to Rs 17 crore in 2016. The data has been provided to OneIndia by the Association for Democratic Reforms.
Two other candidates who have seen an increase in assets are also from the AITC. They are Saumen Kumar and Amrit Kumar who have seen an asset increase of Rs 6 crore and Rs 4 crore respectively between 2001 and 2016.
Increase of assets by 698 per cent:
Javed Amhed Khan as per his sworn affidavit in 2011 had declared that he had assets worth Rs 2,16,82,397. In his 2016 affidavit, he declared assets worth RS 15,12,99,472. This is an increase of 698 per cent.
Second in the list is Saumen Kumar Mahapatra of the AITC. His 2016 affidavit shows that he has assets worth 7,83,38,249. According to his 2011 declaration his assets were worth Rs 1,76,47,277. This is an increase of 344 per cent.
Amit Kumar Mitra of the AITC had assets worth 7,08,76,316 in the year 2011. In the year 2016 his assets are worth Rs 11,74,81,555. This is an increase by 66 per cent.

Bengal
Abul Kasem Molla of the AITC had assets worth Rs 89 lakh in 2011 while in 2016 it is 5,49,62,341 an increase of 514 per cent. In the case of Rabindranath Ghosh of the AITC, his assets have risen by 370 per cent. In 2016 he has declared 5,55,04,333 while in 2011 it was 1,18,07,005.
If one were to look at the statistics party wise, then the average asset increase for the AITC has been an increase by 113 per cent. The Indian National Congress has seen an increase by 111 per cent while the CPI(M) statistics show that the increase is 69 per cent.
The average asset increase per candidate for the AITC has been 81 lakh while in the case of the Congress and the CPI(M) it has been Rs 47 lakh and Rs 11 lakh respectively.
Re-contesting candidates and assets rise:
Average Assets in 2011 Elections: The average assets of these 245 re-contesting MLAs fielded by various parties including independents in 2011 were Rs 60.11 lakhs (Rs. 60, 11,270).
Average Assets in 2016 Elections: The average assets of these 245 re-contesting MLAs in 2016 is Rs 1.27 crores (Rs. 1, 27, 27,880).
Average Asset change from 2011 to 2016: The average assets of these 245 re- contesting MLAs, between the West Bengal Elections of 2011 and 2016 increased by Rs. 67.16 lakhs (67, 16,610).
Percentage change in assets from 2011 to 2016 Average percentage increase in assets for these 245 re- contesting MLAs is 112%.
