This incident took place in the Howrah district of West Bengal when seven goons-led by a Trinamool party leader raped two women in a drunken state. Sources say that it was an act of revenge by the leader who had lost the panchayat elections to an independent candidate backed by the Left.
According to the relative of one of the survivors, all the seven men were drunk and barged into her house when there was no one and gangraped her. The police have arrested seven men and named eight in the FIR.
